Balance

Balance is one of the most amazing functions of our bodies. As we move, sensory information goes from our eyes, ears, muscles and joints to our brain stem, where it is organized, interpreted and turned into better, more balanced movements. (Curious to learn more? Read this fabulous deep dive on balance.)

Viewed as a sensation, balance is what it feels like to be in balance. Next time you’re balancing, take a moment to notice what it actually feels like in your body. Where is it located? What seems to be happening? That sensation you are feeling is called stability.

Stability can be increased alongside balance. You can learn new and challenging balance moves at any age and get better at them, plus you can also sense stability more deeply in your body and feel more confident while moving.

My classes on September 2025 will develop your balance. Every song contains a balance challenge, and we’ll do the same ten songs for the whole month, so you can experience getting better at doing the moves. The more regularly you attend, the more your balance will improve.
